Job Role: #YouMatter Project Support Co-ordinator (Counsellor)
3-year fixed term contract
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
Responsible to: Director of Turning Point NI
Turning Point NI is a crisis intervention and mental health hub for those experiencing any form of mental health crisis. Based in Ballymena, it serves the community of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, providing a referral pathway for statutory, community and voluntary organisations. Its primary aim is to support those who are at risk to suicidal behaviours and/or mental health crisis. We are a small team of dedicated and professional people who aim to reduce the intensity of suicide and self-harming behaviours, promote positive mental well-being and resilience and support families who have been bereaved by suicide.
Through our new #YouMatter Project, funded by National Lottery Community Fund, we intend to improve access to our counselling service, supporting individuals in crisis. We do this by de-escalating risk, designing safety plans, providing counselling interventions and facilitating group work for families and those bereaved by suicide. We will proactively raise awareness in schools and businesses developing our stakeholder and partner network.
The #YouMatter Project started in April 2022 and is funded for 3 years. We are excited to extend our counselling and administration team to focus on the delivery of this project and are seeking to recruit two full time Project Support Co-ordinators, who are qualified counsellors (BACP Accredited or working toward accreditation with a minimum of 150 supervised hours post qualification).
Based in Ballymena you will be providing face to face, telephone and web-based counselling support. You will act as a first point of contact for clients and work with a diverse client group who present with a wide range of issues. You will have the ability to undertake assessments, liaise with other professionals and use a range of interventions that will help reduce suicide and improve the lives of our clients.
Only those who clearly demonstrate on application that they can meet the essential criteria will be interviewed. These roles will be subject to enhanced Access NI Checks.
